Our second meeting of poet enthusiasts took place on Sunday, April 15. In the gloom of the rainy afternoon, we sat in a cozy living room sipping tea and tasting some evil and some not-so-evil treats. These are the poems we read, listened to and discussed.

Memo from G-d
Perhaps the memo took you unawares
That I sent an angel to whisper close to ears
Far spread across your disparate worlds
With unspoken commands to write the words,
But the words were theirs, from each man his own,
In time and place, where simple dust was sown.
What grew took years to free itself from ground
And stretch tall to make the compelling sound
That the present you were intended to hear,
But time passed and death took the year
From author and poet, now silent and voiceless.
The words were only theirs, not divine. Unless, unless…
They led you to increase your love or grow your soul,
Then were the words not theirs but Mine, quoted whole.

What a cute little poem! Thank you so much. I like to believe that most poetry involves divine inspiration…it’s the only way to explain its beauty.
Also, I wanted to mention, I LOVE LOVE LOVED the Wordsworth Rap. How fun! Be sure to listen to it.
